Privacy
This page describes how KidsShines handles information, both when using the site with no account and after a parent or teacher chooses to create one.
Practicing with no account
Free practice, the timed typing test, every lesson, and every game can be used with no account, no email address, and no personal information at all. Typing statistics (accuracy, speed, progress) are calculated and stored only in your browser and are never sent to a server.
If a parent creates an account
Children never register or have an email — only a parent can create an account, using their own name and email address. A parent then creates a profile for each child containing only a nickname, a preset avatar, an age group, and a learning path — never a date of birth, location, school, or photo. Once an account exists, that child's lesson and game progress is stored on our server (via Supabase) so it can be seen on the parent dashboard and carried across devices, protected by row-level security so a family can only ever see its own data.
If a child joins a teacher's classroom
A child only joins a classroom after their parent reviews an invitation and explicitly approves it. A teacher can see that child's classroom assignments and results, but never a parent's contact details or the child's home practice history.
What we don't do
We do not run advertising, third-party behavioural tracking, or collect location data. There are no public profiles, messaging, or leaderboards anywhere on the site.
This page is a plain-language description and is not a substitute for formal legal review. Professional legal review will be completed before any public launch that collects personal data.
