Home Row Typing Practice for Kids

Home row typing practice starts with one idea: each key on a keyboard has a “home” finger — the one that reaches it most naturally without looking down. This keyboard finger-placement chart shows exactly which finger types which key, color-coded and matching the same finger guidance used throughout KidsTyping Master's own lessons.

Start with the home row

Rest the left hand's fingers on A S D F and the right hand's fingers on J K L ; — outlined below. Most keyboards have a small bump on the F and J keys so fingers can find this position by touch alone, without looking at the keyboard.
